Base Unit

Description

The Base Unit – Wireless Gateway or Wireless Base Radio is the central data collection point in the OleumTech Wireless Sensor Network for monitoring critical process conditions designed especially for the remote field applications. The Base Unit is responsible for receiving/collecting data from wireless end nodes such as Wireless Transmitters, Wireless I/O Modules, and other Wireless Gateways.

The collected data can be communicated with third-party Modbus device such as a RTU, PLC, EFM, HMI, or DCS via RS232 or RS485 Serial port.

The Base Unit Wireless Gateway also provides onboard I/Os: 4x 0-5 V Analog Inputs, 2x Discrete/Digital Inputs, and 2x Discrete/Digital Outputs. This base radio also provides an RS485 port for I/O expansion capabilities and works with OleumTech Analog Input Module, Analog Output Module, and Digital I/O Module.

The Base Unit is unique from other base radios in the marketplace because it can also be utilized for creating a peer-to-peer network infrastructure. By combining multiple gateways in a same network, data can be shared amongst them. Thus, a user can stretch a network over many miles using Gateways as repeaters or create a robust, sophisticated network by sharing data across multiple Gateways with its own group of end nodes.

The Base Unit is an ideal replacement for a hardwired/wired system for enabling wireless emergency shutdown (ESD), wireless valve control, and many other mission-critical applications.

OleumTech offers another Gateway: the compact DH2 without onboard I/O, but with much larger Modbus register table size.

The Base Unit is certified for Class I, Division 2 hazardous location use.
